MONICA MATOUSH
Monica Matoush is a communications expert who leverages decades of senior-level public affairs experience from the Pentagon, Capitol Hill, and military service to position Invariant’s defense clients in the media and cultivate key stakeholders.
Hailed by the 24th Secretary of Defense Chuck Hagel as “a seasoned pro in developing communications strategies that both educate and influence audiences,” Monica brings unparalleled expertise to the firm.
Her many roles at the Pentagon included serving most recently as Senior Advisor to the Undersecretary of Defense for Personnel and Readiness, as well as the Senior Protocol Advisor and Military Assistant to the Secretary of Defense and Deputy Secretary of Defense during the Obama Administration.
As communications director of the House Armed Services Committee (HASC), Monica was the principal spokesperson and messaging strategist for policy issues related to Department of Defense oversight. “Monica was key to our successful messaging efforts at a time when passing the National Defense Authorization Act proved to be particularly difficult,” said HASC Chairman Adam Smith (D-WA).
Monica served more than 21 years in the U.S. Air Force as a career public affairs officer. She holds a bachelor’s degree from Hawaii Pacific University and a master’s degree from the National Intelligence University.
